Moxie (mŏk’sē)

First used as the name for soft drink much beloved by the writer E.B. White, moxie sprang into popular usage thanks to Damon Runyon who wrote in a 1930 short story, “Personally, I always figured Louie a petty-larceny kind of guy, with no more moxie than a canary bird.”
